Digital Printing Services
What are the benefits of digital printing?
Quick turnaround
Do you need leaflets printed quickly for your upcoming campaign? With digital printing, we offer a quick turnaround to save your business time. Less materials are used in the printing process, meaning printing can be carried out efficiently and modifications can be made easily.
Ideal for small print runs
Digital printing is a far more cost-effective choice for smaller print runs, compared to traditional printing. From brochures to business cards, print only the amount your business needs. If lower quantity print runs are suited to your business, then digital printing is the perfect choice.
Print on demand
Unsure how many leaflets you will need? Digital printing gives you the ability to print on demand, making stock management easier. It is also beneficial if you need materials for tailored campaigns.
Customised and personalised
As digital print allows for VDP, it means your business can benefit from targeted marketing and address customers individually. It is a simple way to customise your marketing materials on a print by print basis.
High quality printing
Despite a quick turnaround, digital print still offers high quality prints with reduced distortion. There is no need for a colour matching with digital data, meaning there is excellent colour accuracy with every print.
What is digital printing?
Digital print is a newer technology where a computer communicates with a printer and instructs it on how to create the image. The printer then analyses this image and prints it onto the surface. A digitised image allows for the control of ink in order to replicate the image.
Traditionally, materials are printed using a method called ‘litho offset printing’. It uses wet ink and printing plates to transfer the ink to the paper or other substrate. However, this can be a time intensive process with varying results.
Due to the high quality and consistency of the final prints, digital print is the most common printing technique used by businesses of all sizes. It can be used for printing a variety of marketing materials and business stationary, from business cards and flyers to brochures and postcards. Designs can be printed on a variety of materials, from different weights of papers to plastics and more.
There are two types of digital print: inkjet printers and toner printers. Inkjet printing involves mapping small dots of ink. Toner printing uses a plastic based powder to create small dots, and dries instantly.
Digital printing allows for designs to be created with software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Once converted into a PDF, these designs can be sent directly to the printing press. It is important to note that digital print uses CMYK ink – cyan, magenta, yellow and black. This means that designs must be created using CMYK settings for the most accurate results, rather than RGB. RGB is commonly used for screen displays, and produces slightly different colours.
What is Variable Data Printing?
Using personalised marketing materials is one of the best ways to get your message out to your customers.
Unlike traditional printing, digital printing allows for variable data printing, or VDP. It allows print runs to have variations in text or images, whether individually or in batches, without stopping the printer. Software extracts changeable information from a database and combines it to create new versions ready for printing.
VDP can be applied to all manner of marketing materials, such as personalising flyers with customer information or adding unique codes for campaigns.
